We're allergic to our house...

So, you know how excited you get when you head to the house while it is being built? That was tempered ever-so-slightly for us over the weekend when we realized that, for now, we were allergic to our house. (cue the Price is Right tuba bleat of defeat).

Actually, it is not the house, it is the tall rye grass that covers the back of our lot. Lauren and I went back there the past couple times we've visited the homesite, and it didn't take long for both of us to have major allergy symptoms (even after taking Allegra).

The good news is that the rye grass will certainly be gone before we move in. And, since framing will likely start in the next week or so, we probably won't be back there much soon anyway. But for now, excuse our sniffles and sneezing.

  1. ugh, you can have them clear some extra area behind the lot if there is room, if you ask early enough they should do it for you, we got that done.

  2. I use an air purifier in the room at night when it is allergy season for me. It works like you can't believe. I found one for less than $200.00 and it works like a charm. We were going to get a whole house purifier but then talked to several experts who recommended to use the room ones because they are better and less of a hassle. I hope that grass is cut soon so you can enjoy the building process. I hate allergies!

  3. I am relieved to hear that it is the grass and not the carpet or walls!

  4. My house was built in Lakewood NJ in 2014. Anyone know what the standard interior off white paint is called. What brand and color?
